Industrial Fabrication: Electric Arc Furnace Water Cooled Roof Rings

The Rose Corporation recently manufactured a 14 foot diameter and an 11 foot diameter replacement “Water Cooled Roof Ring” used on Electric Arc Furnaces.  They are an essential part of the furnace process as a continuous flow of water enters the water jacket, circulates the entire ring and exits in order to keep the roof section of the Electric Arc Furnace cool (see illustration below).

The arc furnace pictured below, fabricated by the Rose Corporation, was ordered by a customer building a new foundry in Santiago, Chile. It is a duplication of an arc furnace originally designed and manufactured in 1980 for that same customer. The original furnace performed so well the customer wanted an exact duplicate. The new furnace benefited from upgraded, state-of-the art furnace controls. This 10-ton capacity furnace is used in the production of high-grade alloys for manufacturing specialized mining equipment.
